Global solvability of simplified Ericksen-Leslie system with thermal
effects
- 概要 Abstract

The non-isothermal model of compressible nematic liquid crystals is
considered. Ericksen-Leslie system describes the nematic liquid crystal
flows: which is composed of Navier-Stokes equations governing the fluid
velocity and direction equation based on Oseen-Frank energy density
functional governing the motion of orientation of rod-like particles.
There are fewer results for non-isothermal model of nematic liquid
crystal for global classical solutions compared to those of isothermal
model. We start with the global well-posedness of solutions near the
motionless state with small initial perturbation and consider the
existence of global weak solutions for large initial data.

Bose-Einstein Condensation as a Mathematical Challenge

A mathematical analysis of the Bose-Einstein condensation (A. Einstein,
1925) by G. Uhlenbeck (1927) called this phenomenon (in the ideal
Bose-gas) into question until 1938, when it was solved by F. London.
Since that time mathematicians and mathematical physicists, besides
rigrous descriptions of this phenomenon (via permanental random
processes, or C^*-algebra approach,
etc), proposed also generalisions of the Bose-Einstein condensation,
which are observable even experimentally. Another aspect is a rigorous
analysis of Bose-Einstein condensation in a non-ideal Bose-gas of
interacting particles . The mathematical proof of existence the
Bose-Einstein condensation in the system of bosons with a bona fide
two-body interaction is still absent. This talk has the aim to give a
brief overview of the facts mentioned above.
